youngs fermentation bucket
hi ,
i have just purchased a starter kit from youngs , I have recently made blackberry wine which turned out nice so im familier with the use of an airlock , however the 25 l fermentation bucket which was provided in the kit is a sealed unit (i assume) ,in the instructions it says cover the bucket with lid ? can someone help me or am i not thinking straight ,
i thought the co2 needed to escape in all home brewing
thanks in advance

It should have a hole in the lid. You are correct in the co2 needs to escape. If the lid does not have a hole you will need to drill 1 and get a rubber grommet that fits the airlock.

In wine making the lid is just set on the bucket to keep bugs and dust out. When fermenting beer in them are you snaping the lid in place to seal them or doing same thing ? I usually set my bottle of left over sanitizer on lid to keep kids, dog ,cat, and me from knocking it off.

Snap the lid down tight and use an airlock.
