I've made a batch now, really liked it, and I'm wondering why I never see it for sale anywhere? Is there some sort of regulation against selling mead or something like that? Does anyone know of a good place to buy it? (Not that I really need to, now that I've made some. I was just curious).

Mead is just a wine with a bit of water and honey in it isnt it I believe it originates in England if I not incorrect.

It all depends on where you live.

In some states it is fairly easy to find mead, and you should ask your local wine shop to stock it.

In states like Michigan it has been more challenging to find anything but Chaucers.

Two you might find that I don't normally recommend are Oliver Winery's Camelot Mead and Chaucers. These aren't what I would call terrible, but not up to what I would want name on.

There are some I will totally stay away from, but I'm not going to just bash on meads I don't like.

One to be wary of is Bunratty Winery Meade. Note the spelling. It's not MEAD at all, but a white wine flavored with honey and spices.
