The ingredients states it has sorbates. How will it ferment?

In the other post I mentioned I have never tried it because of the sorbates. Others have claimed it will ferment and have apparently had success. The only thing I have ever heard complaints about is that it ends up slightly sweet and doesn't ferment out dry. Sorbate doesn't ferment but possibly it has a very low amount of sorbate that just preserves it and doesn't totally prevent fermentation. Possibly, potassium sorbate is meant to prevent natural fermentation but once large amounts of yeast is added they cannot prevent fermentation. I'm not a chemist so I'm not really sure why. I just figured there are so many choices of juice out there I have just stayed away from the sorbates. I do know that sorbates can change flavor slightly.

Now that is a much more in depth reply! Thanks for that, Wyo! I've only had experience with Welch's once, and the fermentation was very vigorous, and finished pretty dry. Way too dry for me, since I only really like sweet wines anyway. I knew you'd have better information, though. Glad to have you around!

Just had knee surgery and slow getting around so get on the computer and get off quickly so I can ice and keep it in the air. Starting to feel better as time goes by. Gotta be healed by summer, I have a lot of hay to cut and bale. LOL.
