Watermelon Wheat Beer
My buddy and I are thinking about making a watermelon wheat beer. We have our wheat beer recipe but now are trying to figure out how to incorporate the watermelon. This is what were thinking. We're going to fill a muslin bag with the fleshy part of the watermelon and let that steep prior to the boil for 30 minutes then proceed with the recipe. When we move to secondary fermentation we were thinking about throwing in a few watermelon rinds. Thoughts???

Re: Watermelon Wheat Beer
Just like all fruit wheat/fruit beers, I'd add a watermelon puree during secondary. I see nothing good coming from boiling the juice.

I plan on kegging it. Do you think the puree would interfere in the line at all or would it all settle to the bottom of my fermenter?

It should settle but to be on the safe side, you may wish to crash it for a few days. I find that the trub will freeze on the bottom making it easier to rack off.
