I want my Duda!

Postby GuitarLord5000 » Sun Feb 21, 2010 7:42 am

In my quest to find cheap components for my RIMS system, I've been looking for a cheaper plate chiller than the Therminator and Shirron. I've found it, and I think maybe a few of you guys would be interested in it. It's from an ebay store by the name of DudaDiesel. Here's a link:

The 30 plate SS304 seems to have nearly the same amount of surface area as the Therminator, for less than half the price. Once I found it on ebay, I did a google search and found that several brewers have purchased Duda chillers and seem to like them. Also, here's some chillers from Brazetek:

While more expensive than the Duda, they are still far less expensive than the Therminator.

Happy Chilling!
Here's to a long life and a merry one

A cold beer and another one

Cheers,

Now, that starts to make a plate chiller look economically feasible.. Thanks for sharing your find!

Re: I want my Duda! or maybe Brazetek!

Okay, after posting about the Duda chiller on my homebrew club's site, I was subsequently informed that it's made of a different grade of stainless steel than the therminator. Duda = 304 whereas Therminator = 316. All stainless ain't created equal, so basically the Duda will corrode quicker than the Therminator. The Duda Diesel seller is very open about 304 stainless corrosion on his site.
So, I think that the Brazetek will end up with my business. The Brazetek chiller is made of 316L stainless, has very near the same amount of surface area as the Therminator, and is only $112 shipped (free shipping). It's still quite affordable at only $30 more than the Duda ($91 less than the Therminator), and using a more beer friendly grade of stainless than the Duda chiller.
