Using a freezer as a kegerator?
Hello folks... I just recently inherited a small top loading freezer.
My question is, would it be possible if when turned up to the warmest setting, this unit (being an average mid-range small freezer) could work as a converted kegorator, if retrofitted with one of the internet-retailer converter kit?
The dimensions work, so I would be very excited to convert this freezer to a kegorator if the warmest setting would be adequate... I'm assuming 33*-34* would be the lowest...
Thanks much- jw

Re: Silly question
33°-34°F is awfully cold for beer unless you're serving BMC.
If you get an Analog Controller
or a
Digital Controller your temp problems will be over.
How do you plan to serve your beer from the kegerator? Put on a collar between the body and lid then put the taps through the collar? Or do you plan to put a tower on the lid to tap from?

On Tap - Oak Aged Bourbon Porter, Barleywine, and Irish Red Rye
Primary - Mead
Secondary - Chipotle Smoked Porter
The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind.

Re: Silly question
I have an analog controller I bought from Jeepguy. It has been one of the better investments I have made. You can use it to convert a freezer to a fridge. You can turn your fridge into a fermenter and it will keep that beer fermenting at perfect temp. They really don't cost all that much and they are well worth it..
