Steam Juicer or Regular Juicer..?

The nitty gritty of winemaking.

Steam Juicer or Regular Juicer..?

Postby Xdriver » Tue Dec 01, 2009 1:23 am

What would be the best way to go and why..?

What are the pros and cons on both types..?

I'm looking to buy a Breville Elite 800jexl ($299 plus 20% off) which is an awesome juicer.. The Victorio Steam Juicer sell for $139 with free shipping..

All I would do is cut the core/seeds out of fruit then add to juicer.. I could ferment with pulp if I'd wanted to.

The steamer, I'm just not sure what the point is steaming off the fruit.. Please help..
If We All Had The Same Opinion, The World Would Be Boring..

Using a steam juicer can throw more of a pectic haze. Fruit when cooked throws more pectic haze. Pasturized juice does that also. I wouldn't be that concerned about the haze. Sometimes it takes several doses of pectic enzyme but it will go away.
