I'm a "secret cleaning agent" man?
Okay, sometimes I think I'm funny.
I gotta know, the dry cleaning agent that is sold in the Homebrew stores? Is it just Oxiclean? Anybody?
I bought 8oz. for 2.85 or I could buy 96oz. for 10.95.
They both say <no chlorine> and whatnot, anybody ever try? I'm just not willing to wreck one of my beers by using something that might taint it.

I really couldn't tell you what the mystery cleaning powder you're referring to is. I personally use Oxyclean and love the stuff. Since the mystery powder is sold in a homebrew shop, I'd say it's probably ok for brewing. If it's just a cleaning agent, you're supposed to rinse it all out thoroughly anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it one way or the other. I used chlorine bleach as a sanitizer for an entire year, and it didn't have any negative impacts on my beer. The key is to give your equipment a really good rinse after using any cleaning agent or chlorine based sanitizer. The only type of products you really need to check up on are the no rinse sanitizers. For that, I use Star San, and it works beautifully.

As near as I can tell, they're the same thing! The only thing I use them for is soaking difficult deposits on brewing implements and soaking bottles to remove labels. After a few batches of "secret agent cleaner", I bought a big tub of generic (store-brand) Oxi-Clean. Guess what? Looked the same, smelled the same, worked the same. As guitarlord said, you're rinsing it all away anyway, so if it works for your purpose, use it!

Thanks guys, truly appreciated. Just trying to sift through the bull. Not sure how to respond individually yet so I'll just post in thread.
Again, thank you.

I have never seen anything like that with my homebrew wholesalers. I do stock pbw(powdered brewery wash). It seems to work very well on the kettles and stuff. I just use oxyclean like others do. Carboys, bottles, kegs and stuff. Let soak for a day or 2. You gotta make sure none gets hard though. A few rinses and things are nice and clean. I use btf iodoher no rinse for sanitising. Thats about the only product i will not skimp on.
I guess i could make a fortion(wheres the spellcheck? too many beers tonight to think!!) selling oxyclean at the shop!! No, i wouldnt do that. I like to give people good prices and i always reccomend people to use cheap stuff if they can, even if they do not buy the stuff from me.
Any questions just post here in case others have the same questions. Welcome to the board!!
