"With a delicious floral and citrus nose, this gracefully balanced orange hue and a spicy character. After fermentation, the ale is finished over a batch of hops to perfect this undeniable Pale Ale. This technique is known as dry-hopping."
That's how Michelob describes their Pale Ale. I'm generally a big fan of Pale Ales and honestly am sort of in a run as far as ordering and buying pale ale over almost any other type of beer. I think it's the hops that I really like about Pale Ales, the bitterness actually, probably the process of dry hopping. I've also realized that I really like other beers that are very hoppy and so it may be the bitterness and the hops more generally than just the pale ale style that I like. That said, I bought a 6 pack of Michelob Pale Ale from their Explorer Pack of "upscale" beers and I have to say I was really impressed. It was definitely hoppy, had great flavor, and best of all, it didn't have that "cheap" beer taste. In fact, I'm sure in a blind taste test I wouldn't have guessed which was the Michelob and which was the micro-brewed pale ale. All that to say, I'd buy it again and I am currently enjoying my first of 6. Incidentally, I've had really bad luck in actually brewing pale ales and may have to give up on that and switch over to brewing stuff that I've had more success with.
