Late Extract Boil

Late Extract Boil

Postby miguelito » Sat Jul 11, 2009 7:07 pm

I really should be asking these questions before I start the brewing process. Anyways, I did a recipe this morning that called for a late extract boil (15 minute). I wasn't sure if I should bring back to a boil and start the last 15 minute segment of my timing or if I should continue with the original 60 minute mark. I chose to bring to a boil and start my final 15 minutes from there. It just seemed to make more sense.

Does it matter? Is there a right answer here?
Primary: American Pale Ale
Secondary: Mead
Bottled: Berliner Weisse
On Tap: NADA (please forgive me)
Coming Soon: Amber Ale, Scottish Ale, Wee Heavy

I always dump my late extract additions in right at flame out.

I second the 15 min from the end, not 15 after. People who write recipes need to realize that most people aren't mind readers :)
