Homebrew Alchemist Bugs, Suggestions, and Gripes!
Here's the catch-all for Homebrew Alchemist Bug Reporting, Suggestions for future releases, and Gripes.
If you have problems, please give as much information about the nature of the problem as possible.
Also, feel free to post a link to the Homebrew Alchemist download to any other forums you frequent. The download can be found here:
homebrew-alchemist-now-available-t849.html
Please do not host a download of this workbook on other sites. Link to this site only. Here's the reasons why:
1. The Homebrew Alchemist was created for the Brewer's Roundtable. While I want it available to anyone who would like to use it, I also want web traffic to go through this site so that the Roundtable can grow. The more folks, the better!
2. The Homebrew Alchemist is still a work in progress. I need all Bugs, Suggestions and Gripes posted to this forum, so that the program can evolve into a better program.
Cheers
Dave

Hello Jeepguy,
You are unable to extract the file, is what you're saying?
What happens when you click on the file?
You may get a pop up window that gives you a publisher warning "This publsiher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?"
If you get this warning, click Run.
You should get a window that says Extract to:
I suggest you hit the Browse button, and select 'Desktop' to extract to, then hit the Extract button.
After that, you should have the sheet on your desktop.
Other than that, what are you experiencing?
Cheers

Re: Homebrew Alchemist Bugs, Suggestions, and Gripes!
the mash efficency calculator isn't right, according to my calculations I had a 70% efficiency (not really good but I'm still working on my mash-tun manifold). the recipe i used is 8lbs pale ale malt with 1.037 potential and 3lbs dark wheat malt 1.039 potential, i extracted 6 galons of total wort from the mash which should have a potenial of 1.068 my preboil gravity was 1.048 (corrected for temp.)....is my math wrong or is the program calculator wrong?
formual is [(37*8)/6]+[(39*3)/6]=68
formual is [(37*8)/6]+[(39*3)/6]=68

Great Catch!
There certainly is a problem with the Efficiency Calculator on this version of the Homebrew Alchemist, and thank you very much for letting me know. I have corrected the problem, and will be sending a revised version to Matt so that he may upload it to the site as soon as he is able.
Cheers,
Dave
