Grill

Postby Jshakour » Wed May 28, 2008 1:23 pm

With summer almost here, I was thinking about building a Texas style grill (barrel grill)

Has anybody made one of these before, If so, where can I get a barrel from and any other materials I may need?

I would bet that it would depend a lot on what state you live in. I would call the companies that use chemicals in those types of barrels. Companies that spray foam insulation in houses etc. Oil companies sell their oil in barrels but there is a deposit for return of the barrel. You may have to pay the deposit fee on the barrel. In this area you can buy barrels for about 3 to 5 bucks (not the ones that they refill) but if you are in a big city I bet they would cost a lot more. We burn our trash in these barrels. Oops! Hope EPA isn't listening. wyo wino

that brings me to my next question, barrels that had chemicals in it, how safe is that to grill in?

I guess the process is to cut the barrel in half. I would do that, then build a fire in each half and burn the stuff out. If you check with the people you got the barrel from they should know how flamable the material was in the barrel. That would be my concern first and foremost. wyo wino :|
