Here's a link to a video using a vacuum-saver. It's not the greatest video, but it shows what I couldn't figure out how write out. I've done this with a friend who was making a kit-wine. It worked great! (be sure to use the bigger cork, the usual will suck into the carboy and you'll have a whole 'nother problem!)

You can use just about any tool to stir the wine to degas. Plastic curtain rods. Buy a plastic rod from a hobby shop and put a bend in it. Any design that will allow it to go into a gallon carboy. The only thing critical is it has to be sanitized. You could probably even use a brush that you mentioned.

If you have lots of patience you really don't need to degas. People that degas their wine usually have more problems when bottling. At what point is it degased enough, or maybe not quite enough. The idea behind degasing is so you won't blow corks.

Metabisulphate will degas itself in about 6 weeks. I leave the airlock on for that 6 weeks than bottle.

Either method works.

Thank you.. My funds are running low at the moment and if the brush will work that would be great..!!!

After I degas and top off it will sit for 3 weeks and I'm hoping it'll be clear by then cause of Thxgiving.. If not clear then i ll have no choice but to wait..

I do like the your idea of a custom

Making good wine is a very slow process. The longer it ages the better it is. My wine ages about 8 months.
