Better Bottles
I've got the screaming desire to change to the Better Bottle carboys to ferment in. Reasons for me wanting to change are safety and weight. Anyone that can shed a little light on the subject, your input will be appreciated.

Re: Better Bottles
If I hadn't already purchased glass carboys, I'd probably buy the better bottles. I originally started out making wine in Kentwood plastic carboys. They worked very well, and were quite a bit lighter than their glass counterparts. The big problems with them were the oxygen permeability of the plastic, and the fact that you pretty much had to toss them once they got scratched up, due to sanitation issues. Better Bottles seem to have solved the oxygen issue, right? I'd still toss them once they got scratched up though.

I perused their website for the first time recently: http://www.betterbottle.com/ and looks like a really sweet system. The technology is a notch up on what I'm using now. Of course, it's priced accordingly.

Better Bottles are nice. Hard to scratch and a firmer/harder plastic than a Kentwood ( for us here in La.) water cooler bottle. I highly recommend them. They are priced kind of high for a plastic jug particularly if you buy the racking option but I have to say, they are nice. I have every size of carboy there is to get in glass. I bought a Better Bottle last time I needed another carboy and will from now on.

Re: Better Bottles
They have some cool stuff on their website. I never really looked at their stuff too closely. I reccomend a 16.5 gallon fermenter for bigger batches. The only problem is that its very heavy to lift. I use an electric winch to lift mine.
I contacted them & i think i will start stocking some of their parts. I have to see if my wholesalers have all the parts, i think they do.
It doesnt look like they will sell directly to me. That could have made them way cheaper for sure.
They weight & safety is a great reson to use them. I just hate not being able to get in there & wash them.
