Beer for wedding

Postby dcp277 » Sun Jan 10, 2010 4:20 am

So my sister is getting married this summer and as a surprise my parents think I should brew beer for it. The problem is my sister only really drinks Coors light (no idea why) and the husband to be is just starting to adventure into better beers (not far though, like Sam Adams). I don't want to make some totally bland beer since I'll be drinking it too. Anyone have any suggestions on what to make?

I just posted a recipe for Coors Light here. This is an extract recipe. You could try that.

My nephew was a big fan of Arrogant Bastard so I brewed up two batches, his and hers, Arrogant Bastard and Arrogant Bitch. It was a major hit.

Since your family is barely starting into craft brews, I'd suggest a Blonde or maybe a British Mild.

Good luck,

Oak Aged Bourbon Porter
Barleywine
Traditional Mead
Pale Warrior Ale
Russian Imperial Stout
Chipotle Smoked Porter

Squeeze My Grapefruits Summer Blonde

It looks like you need to find a good crossover beer (or two) to brew. If I were in your shoes, I'd brew a Fat Tire clone and a Bourbon Barrel Stout. These beers have been the biggest hits amongst my BMC drinking pals.
Here's to a long life and a merry one
A quick death and an easy one
A pretty girl and an honest one
A cold beer and another one

Cheers,

I recently ordered the Patersbier kit from Northern Brewer just to try it out. This was the quickest batch of beer I ever made. I had it flowing from the tap in 10 days! I gotta tell you that the beer was pretty darn good and had some character to it. I took growlers of it to a few parties and it was the perfect home brew intro beer for all of those lite beer drinkers we all know. It was light in body, but a ton of flavor. I highly recommend for home brew drinking newbies!

6.00 lb Pilsner Liquid Extract
0.50 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine
1.00 oz Tradition [5.30 %] (60 min) Hops

0.50 tsp Yeast Nutrient (Boil 10.0 min) Misc
1.00 items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 min) Misc
1 Pkgs Trappist High Gravity (Wyeast Labs #3787)
Primary: American Pale Ale
Secondary: Mead
Bottled: Berliner Weisse
On Tap: NADA (please forgive me)
Coming Soon: Amber Ale, Scottish Ale, Wee Heavy
