American Ale
This product has probably been on the maket in several places before it became available here, but I tried a bottle of Budwieser's American Ale this week and it to be quite good. My first impression was that it was going to be too hoppy but after a few sips it was pretty darn good. Has anyone else tried this beer and what was your impression??

Re: American Ale
I recently tried it, and agree it was pretty good. I did detect some sort of chemical-like flavor in the finish, though. I couldn't really put my finger on it. It might be that I was looking for something to be wrong with a product from Bud...
Unfortunately, it was priced almost as much as all the microbrews at my liquor store, and I think there's a lot more of them that I prefer. That's my two cents!

Re: American Ale
Ok, I finally got a chance to try it. I will agree that it does have a very nice flavor, for the first one. Once I got to the second beer I started to notice what curlyfat was talking with the chemical after taste. Also the price, it was $7 for a 6 pack here in Az. I really don't mind paying a price for good beer but there is just something a little off about this one and I can't put my finger on it. The color is perfect in my book, I wish all my beers were that color. Carbonation was good as well. Not too hoppy. But then, BAM, that after taste. Maybe a flaw of making too much at one time? Who knows. I did like it but not worth the price in my book.
Prost

I wonder if they filter it or pasturize it?

Re: American Ale
I tried this Ale from Bud and I thought it tasted a bit watered down. And I'm a bit of a hop head, so it didn't have enough hops for me. But it is better than drinking a Bud Light. But then again what isn't.

Re: American Ale
I tried this ale for the first time the other day.
I was a bit disappointed. Well...now that I think of it no I wasn't. I got exactly what I expected. I expected something fairly bland and extremely flavorful or hoppy and that is exactly what I got.
Actually it was better than I expected. It certainly was not worth the price and I will probably never purchase it again but is was worth trying once.
Anheuser-Busch's American Ale was definitely brewed for the masses.
That is not necessarily a bad thing. Anheuser-Busch has made the perfect beer to introduce ales to die hard drinkers of American megabrewery pilsners. Who knows perhaps after trying the American Ale they may be emboldened to try some of the more interesting Michelob products and they the sky's the limit...Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada, Arrogant Bastard Ale etc.
Okay most Budweiser drinker's heads would probably explode if they drank Sierra Nevada but that's besides the point. They may eventually work their way up to it once they realize there is more to beer than bland pilsners served ice cold.

Re: American Ale
There are so many beers that are better for the same price or even less that although it wasn't terrible I will go back to my motto of never paying for any miller coors or bud products(i'll drink em for free though

Re: American Ale
I vacation with some of the Hensley folk and I'm always trying to bring 'em to the dark side. One is always boasting about some brewery they acquired. Anyways, they gifted me a six-pack of the Am. Ale and it took 2 hours for me to finish the first bottle. I brought the rest home and tried another 2 weeks ago. I figured with it being over a 100°F, anything would taste good. I was wrong. I made it halfway through the second bottle before I became so ill that I had to retire for the evening. I used one for smoking my ribs over the fourth. Still have two bottles left, any takers?
