Ale Yeast Question
I recently bought ingredients for a Brown Ale.
It was with Safale US-05 Dry Ale Yeast.
The guy at the store told me how to prep the yeast but i am not sure if i am remembering everything.
He said to put a cup of water in a pyrex bowl.
Microwave it until it boils.
Add the yeast and let it sit for about 15 minutes
Add the slurry to the wort.
I dont remember if i am supposed to let the water cool to room temp before adding the yeast though. Can someone help me!
Thanks in advance.

Re: Ale Yeast Question
Definitely let it cool! You want the water to be around 90F when you put the yeast in. If you add it to water that's almost boiling it will kill the yeast.
However, I usually just sprinkle dry yeast right on top of the cooled wort. Always works great!

Thank You!
So it isn't beneficial to do it one way over the other?

Re: Ale Yeast Question
I add the yeast dry and the beer comes out great. Cool your wort to about 70 degrees, sprinkle the yeast in and your good to go.
